Single family residential
2019 (Ongoing)
MAKE Architecture
Proposed on a steep hillside of Hollywood land with engaging views of the city, it is a Single family residence project incorporating
a two car parking garage, adjacent site steps leading up to the main entrance of the house. There is an office above
the garage next to the entry foyer with two skylights. There is a bedroom on the second floor and a master suite along with a
massive closet and a laundary room on the third. The fourth floor is dedicated to the living area of the house including kitchen,
dining and a powder room. Due to the steep nature of the hill, one of the challenges in designing this house was to have minimal
excavation while working with the building and zoning codes to satisfy the number and heights of the retaining walls while
achieving the client’s requirements. Trying to keep the budget of the project inexpensive, prefabricated structural elements
such as shipping containers are being incorporated into the design which was at many places governed by the shipping container
sizes, Building setbacks and the height limitations. Due to the complications of the site, road widening requirements by
the city, increase in number of retaining walls, highway dedication etc, a city planning application process is underway to ask
for ZAA, ZAD and CPR that I managed for the project during my time and my role in the project included but was not limited to
schematic design, Hill study, Sectional studies, retaining walls design, Enviornmental assessment application, Hollywood land
specific plan application, Design review board meeting, Case management meeting, coordinating all the various consultants,
material selections, wall and finish details etc. The project is now at the stage of producing construction documents.
